Khao Sok River Canoeing Trip in Southern Thailand.

If you crave quiet solitude with an intimate relationship with Mother Nature, our Khao Sok river canoeing trip is just the ticket.

We offer trips varying in length from one day to several days. This river starts in the Khao Sok National Park headquarters area and courses its way all the way to Surat Thani and the Gulf of Thailand.

We have high quality traditional 'decked' (sit-inside) canoes (kayaks). These are very efficient, which means that you don't work as hard as you would on a sit-on-top or in an inflatable boat.

On our canoeing adventures, you get to paddle your own canoe! Many other tour operators have a guide paddle for you. You miss half of the fun. The paddling is easy and suitable for the average adventurer.

Klong Sok - the Sok River

The river starts out being fairly narrow and shallow, but gradually widens and gets deeper. The first section (all of day number one) is through thick jungle with towering limestone cliffs on either side.

The river then widens and courses through lush farmland and secondary growth.

We sometimes encounter locals swimming or fishing in the river. They're always friendly and a bit surprised to see us. There are a few spots where kids swing from ropes on trees. This is always entertaining.

To add additional flavor to this relaxing experience, the Sok River offers a lot of bird and animal sightings. Kingfishers, egrets, bulbuls, flowerpecker, sunbirds and other birds frequent the shoreline and trees. Monkeys and monitor lizards are often encountered too.

This is a customizable adventure package. If you prefer to paddle your canoe at a very leisurely pace, that's fine with us. If you'd like to challenge yourself and see how far you can paddle, we're game.

If you like fishing, especially fly fishing, this activity can be added to your river trip for no extra charge.

Evenings are spent in nice guesthouses in various rural small towns along the river route. Food is a big part of the fun and the rural restaurants that we choose serve authentic Thai cuisine. Don't worry if you can't handle spicy food, they can tailor it to your palate.

We can run a river canoeing trip anytime we have at least two guests. Check out our scheduled trips page if you'd rather join a small group. Group size is limited to eight adventurers, though most trips are two to four guests.
