Phang Nga Bay kayaking itinerary

Upon arrival - Transfer to Phang Nga Town and check into the Phang Nga Guesthouse. Dinner is at a riverside restaurant in Phang Nga Town.

Phang Nga Bay kayakingAfter breakfast at a Roti restaurant in Phang Nga Town, you will be transferred to Laem Sak in the far northern tip of Phang Nga Bay. The transfer from the Phang Nga Guesthouse to the pier takes approximately 60 minutes.

Everyone will be fitted into the properly sized kayaks and then you will pack your kayaks. You will launch from either the pier or a restaurant, depending on the tide level.

Paddling in a easterly direction, you will reach the limestone karst rock formations, mangrove and several beaches. Lunch will be on one of the many small beaches.

Camping Phang Nga Bay Following the coastline, you will pass several small islands, many towering limestone cliffs, stands of mangrove and secluded beaches.

The goal is a large beach that features a massive over-hanging rock cliff. The area under the over-hang is large enough for at least ten tents. This means that there is no need to put the rain fly on the tent.

There is also a freshwater spring on this beach for shower. The well comes up during high tide. It is pneumatically controlled by the pressure generated by the risen tide. It is mostly fresh water.

Kayaking Phang Nga BayAfter breakfast and taking down camp, you will start this day by paddling west towards Ko Yao Noi. An hour into the paddle, you will arrive at an island called Ko Talu. This island features an arch and an inner-island lagoon or hong in Thai.

Thailand school group tripsNext, you paddle across an open stretch of water until you reach Ko Kudu Yai. On this island, there is a lovely bay with a beach. You will have lunch here. It is also a nice place to swim and relax.

Next, you will head to Ko Yao Noi and paddle along the eastern coastline. The goal is a nice camping beach. It should take about 45 minutes to an hour to reach this beach from Ko Kudu Yai. Click here to see a satellite map of Ko Yao Noi

There is a huge Tamarind tree on this beach and plenty of flat land for setting up tents. A short walk away is a freshwater well for showering.

Ko Boi Yai kayakingAfter breakfast, paddle north along the coast of Ko Yao Noi. You will be retracing part of what you did on the previous day, but soon you will be paddling new territory.

Rounding the northern end of Ko Yao Noi, you will head south. There are a few beaches along the way where you can take a break. In case of inclement weather, these beaches are a nice place to take shelter until the weather clears.

This coastline is undeveloped and features mud flats and a variety of mangrove species not seen prior to now. Once you reach a certain point, you'll cross over and head to Ko Boi Yai.

You'll camp on a national park lawn. It's flat and grassy. There is a large covered area for cooking in case it rains. There is also a freshwater well for showering and toilet facilities available.

Kayaking in mangroveAfter breakfast, you'll continue paddling back to Ko Yao Noi, round the southwestern corner and head along the coast.

There is sea grass in the flats and this used to be a good place to see Dugongs. Dugong imageUnfortunately, Dugongs are now rare. Habitat destruction is part of the reason. The other reason is fishing. You will see many fish traps along this paddle. Dugongs are sometimes accidently killed by the fishing nets used in these traps.

You will pass the main pier used by the ferries that transport visitors and villagers from Phuket and Krabi. From here, you will be able to see your final destination.

The finish is at a smaller pier. There is a beach beside the pier where you will land.

After lunch at a restaurant in downtown Ko Yao Noi, you will head to the main pier, and everyone will board the longtail motor boat to travel back to Phuket.

You will be transferred to the Crystal Inn or to the airport. If you're going to the Crystal Inn, a buffet dinner will be arranged for the group.

There will have a longtail at our disposal at all times.

There is now fairly good reception for mobile phones in the bay, so help is just a phone call away.
